FAQ /

Are skate. cosmetic mods allowed? What EA said

Custom clothing, boards and maps are fine with ReSkate. Mods that unlock or copy EA's paid store items aren't. ReSkate has refused to load store-item copies since 1.1.2. On October 9, 2026, Full Circle said it won't support mods that unlock paid cosmetics, expose unreleased content or profit from its assets.

What Full Circle said

On October 9, 2026, skate.’s developer Full Circle commented on mods for the first time since ReSkate launched. It said it “supports player creativity” and draws a line between creative mods and “unauthorized tools to access items”. It said it won’t support mods that unlock paid cosmetics, expose unreleased content, or profit from its assets without permission. It also said it is working on official creation tools, with no timeline (shredder.news).

What ReSkate does about it

ReSkate set the same rule from the start. Its news feed says it isn’t “a way to get paid cosmetics, or a place for leaks” (source). Since 1.1.2, the code enforces part of it: mods that add copies of store items under new names don’t load, and the launcher, mod manager and game say why (commit).

What’s fine, and what skatemods lists

  • Community-made items: shoes, clothing, decks, grip and wheels that an author made or ported. Those are most of the cosmetics and boards on Thunderstore.
  • Maps, music and gameplay mods.
  • Not fine: unlockers for EA’s store items, leaked unreleased content, and anything sold using EA’s assets.

skatemods lists what’s current on the ReSkate Thunderstore and doesn’t host or link unlockers. ReSkate runs offline and never touches your EA account, but it still runs EA’s client, so EA’s terms apply. See Can skate. be modded? for the background.
