ReSkate 2.1.0-pre
A pre-release from Oct 15, 2026: a test build that can be less stable than the current version. The launcher has a setting to try pre-releases.
ReSkate 2.1.0
2.0.8 and 2.0.9 were pulled after too many players crashed on them, so this release follows 2.0.7: everything from those two, plus the fixes for what went wrong in them.
New
Music through the game's own player
- Spotify, YouTube Music and External Audio play through the in-game music player, each with its own row in the music screen: track name, cover, pause, next.
- Local Files: add a folder of your own music (MP3, M4A, AAC, Ogg, FLAC, WAV).
- Online Radio: find stations by name or add a stream's address.
- A five-band equaliser and loudness levelling, plus a queue and a Music page in the ReSkate menu.
FPV drone
- Fly a drone from the free camera, with real quad physics, collisions and a goggle-style display.
- Fly it on keyboard and mouse, a gamepad, or a USB RC radio, with presets for a Tinywhoop, a toothpick and a 5-inch.
- All its settings are on the new DRONE page of the ReSkate menu (
dronemenuopens it).
Board Break
- Boards wear from hard landings, rail hits, grinding and slams. A worn board steers lazier and breaks more easily.
- Coming down too hard on a rail can snap the board.
- New crack and impact sounds, with their own settings.
Grind exits
- Pick the side you exit a grind with LT / RT.
- A pop-out strength slider.
- A trigger pressed up to a second before the grind still counts.
- Works with DualShock 4 and DualSense pads.
Launcher
- Mod profiles: save which mods are on and in what order, switch between setups, and share them by code or file (r2modman-compatible).
- Thunderstore dependencies: installing a mod now brings the mods it needs, so mod packs work.
- Test pre-releases: a setting to try upcoming builds before they're released.
Multiplayer
- Other players' placed objects:
- They're ghosts you skate through by default. Each player's row in the session menu has a switch to make theirs solid, and a server's own park objects stay solid.
- The object card names who placed it, and on someone else's object it offers Disable rather than Edit.
- Typing dots show above a skater while they write a message.
- Kicks and bans show a popup explaining why, instead of just a status line.
- Custom map downloads are more reliable: a download that has started finishes and installs even if the server stops waiting, and you're told to join again.
- Throwdowns: a line score with thousands separators is no longer cut short (5,432 was read as 5).
Fixes
- Crashes
- Dense custom maps (Los Santos City, San Andreas) no longer crash or hang the GPU.
- Levels with a very large number of lights no longer crash.
- No more crash on changing maps with a Spotify or YouTube station playing, and no more slow memory growth while one plays.
- No more crash when the music player picks the next song from a large playlist.
- Music screen: it no longer comes up empty when your playlists hold more than 1,024 songs.
- PlayStation controllers no longer briefly drop input.
- Mods: a mod with one unreadable script no longer loses the rest of its changes.
- Console:
mp map-markers,mp puppet-savings,throwdown-hudandthrowdown-offboardno longer crash when typed on their own. - Replay export: videos are encoded at much higher quality.
Launcher and install
- ReSkate now needs a folder of its own, not Steam's skate. folder, so a Steam update can't break it. If you run it from Steam's folder, the launcher tells you to move it.
- Mismatched game files: when the game's data is from another build, the launcher asks you to verify, and your mods are checked again afterwards.
- Crash reports now go to ReSkate's own server, and there's an optional setting to send performance timings (off by default).
Dedicated servers
- Timed kicks:
kick <player> [minutes|restart]and a default kick time. Vote kicks last 5 minutes by default. - Fewer join failures: a server no longer turns everyone away over a world-layers file from another game build.
Commits
- Descriptor heaps: dense custom maps no longer overflow the GPU's descriptor heap and crash it
- Board Break: wear and tear, rail snaps, break and body sounds, settings
- Replay export: videos are encoded at 100 Mbps whichever quality is chosen
- Drone: turning the goggle display off hides it
- Lights: a level with more of one kind than the game's table holds no longer crashes it
- Console: "help perf" lists the perf commands, and a wrong word after a command says where to look
- Multiplayer console: map-markers, puppet-savings and the throwdown switches work by themselves
- Drone: settings move into the ReSkate menu (DRONE page)
- Mod merge: an unreadable script no longer drops the rest of its mod's TOC from other mods' copies
- Stations: songs get their own names back before a map change, and the names shown no longer pile up
- Grind exits: work with DualShock 4 and DualSense pads read natively
- World layers: a server's catalog must be the supported build's, and a player is not put out over one that is not
- Shader tables: mods' are merged as in 2.0.7 again, and the game's song scorer stays within its list
- Spotify device and streams: secure connections of their own, not Windows'
- Fix PlayStation report age sampling after HID reads
- Music screen: large playlists no longer empty it, and two logs say why things fail
- Game data of another build: the launcher asks for a verify, and mods are looked at again
- Skater: FPV drone mode
- Launcher: a failed Steam download writes DepotDownloader's last lines to the log
- Kicks: a popup for the player who was put out, and vote kicks last 5 minutes
- Launcher: no exception for Proton, it has a folder of its own there too
- Launcher: ReSkate lives in a folder of its own, not Steam's skate. folder
