ReSkate 2.1.2
A pre-release from Oct 22, 2026: a test build that can be less stable than the current version. The launcher has a setting to try pre-releases.
ReSkate 2.1.2
Plugins Beta
- Mods can run code now: a mod can include a Lua plugin that adds game modes, HUDs, menu pages, console commands and more, without changing ReSkate itself.
- Safe by design: each plugin runs in its own sandbox. It can't read your files, touch other programs, or change your cosmetics, unlocks or progression. It only gets the abilities its mod asks for.
- A page for each plugin: plugins that have settings get their own page under PLUGINS in the ReSkate menu (Insert).
- For creators: a plugin reloads by itself when you save its files, once you're back in the game window. The plugin docs cover every function.
Features that are mods now
- Drone, Board Break, Road Rash, Hall of Meat and grind exits are no longer built into ReSkate. They're plugin mods, so they update like any other mod and you can switch each one off. Board Break comes with its deck pack and Road Rash with its item pack. Get the rest from GET MODS.
- No more OFFICIAL tab: those packs are ordinary mods in GET MODS and MY MODS, and UPDATE ALL updates them. Copies you already have stay installed.
Throwdowns
- Custom modes: mods can add their own modes to the Throwdowns page. They use the game's own setup page, start flag, waiting card and HUD.
- New Throwdowns page: a logo grid, by Smokey.
- Playing together: other players with the same mod see your mode's flag and join it with the game's own Join.
Launcher and Mod Manager
- Start map: pick the map the game opens in under Settings > GAME. The game loads straight into it, with no stop in San Vansterdam first.
- UPDATE ALL bar: sits above MY MODS when updates are waiting. It shows each mod's old and new version, the download size, and a Show only these filter. Rows with an update show their new version too.
- Ctrl+F jumps to the search box on MY MODS and GET MODS.
- Map size on join: when you join a server with a map you don't have, the prompt shows its download size first.
- Server browser: click the sorted column again to reverse it.
- Fewer broken installs: the launcher stops on a game folder with non-English letters in its path, checks the game's files and sends you to Steam's verify if any are missing or cut short, and won't run two games from one folder.
Objects
- Free objects unlocked: about 190 free build-kit objects were hidden as if they were store items. They now show in the Object Browser and the park editor (pole jams, road signs, bleachers, A-frames, quarter pipes, bowl pieces and more).
- Category icons: Object Browser tabs show a picture instead of an empty icon.
Multiplayer and servers
- Polls: giving the same answer as in the last poll is no longer refused as spam, and chat no longer repeats what the poll card already shows.
- Server owners: a new lock stops a player's ollies, like the noclip and boost locks. Server plugins can ban and unban players and set what each player may do.
Replays
- Export quality works again: the 8, 12 and 18 Mbps choices apply. Every export was coming out at 100 Mbps, about 750 MB per minute.
- AMD integrated graphics: MP4 export no longer ends in "Failed to save video" on PCs with an AMD integrated GPU next to another graphics card.
Crash fixes
Thanks to everyone who keeps crash reporting on: these come from 2.1.1's reports.
- Textures: fixed the most common crash, about a third of all reports.
- Long multiplayer sessions: fixed a physics crash once a session had built up a very large world.
- Music: fixed a crash when shuffling a very large music list.
- Loading: fixed a crash while streaming game data, and a crash when another player's skater or board broke apart.
- Integrated graphics: PCs without a separate graphics card no longer use more memory for meshes than they have free.
- Stuck loads: a load stuck for two minutes now sends us a report while the game keeps going, so we can find out why.

Commits
- Build: the Linux server tests link the server plugins, every core compiles, no vcpkg hook
- Throwdowns: a plugin refusing its card no longer blocks every later flag, and joins say what they did
- Launcher: the start map is the game's first level, without San Vansterdam before it
- Launcher: a start map in Settings, GAME, instead of always San Vansterdam
- Plugins: a change to a plugin's files waits for the game to have the focus
- Outfit layers: an item worn on top keeps its textures, and the log says what the layers do
- Plugins: an item grid's own list and marks, items worn on top, keys kept from the game, the menu's category icons
- Launcher: official mods removed; their packs are mods like any other
- Mod Manager: UPDATE ALL sits in a bar over the MY MODS list, with each update's version and size
- Plugins: contrib/plugins kept on this machine, out of the repository
- Crashes: guards for 2.1.1's top crash sites, launcher checks, stuck-load reports, quieter logs
- Trainer 0.8.6: Animation timing 1 by default
- Advanced gravity: Animation timing defaults to 1, tooltips in paragraphs
- Fit Check as a plugin: screen capture, the menu's preview turned and read, and what the skater wears
- Trainer 0.8.5: Advanced gravity (animation timing, landing gravity)
- Advanced gravity: animation timing and landing gravity
- Trainer 0.8.4: landings at other gravities, Grind lock-on 0
- Sticky Grinds: the dial reaches the air reach too, so 0 is no lock-on
- Gravity: the game's landing searches use the trainer's gravity
- Replay export: MP4 export works on PCs with an AMD iGPU beside another GPU
- Animator Studio: game tricks mirrored to the skater's stance, a steady board, and the room held together
- Game clips keep the skater's build, the board's trucks ride the deck, and the studio's room and pan
- Animator Studio: not opened during a bail, and the walk back from the character room always ends
- Animator Studio: works on a ReSkate without game clips, and says to update it
- Plugins: the game's own clips by name, clips played on the floor, and Animator Studio's tricks from the game
- Plugins: touching other players, hiding one on your screen, and a raycast that hits players
- Plugins: the character room and typing into a drawn field, and Animator Studio on both
- Plugins: Animator Studio's screen 1:1, on general drawing, screen and pose APIs

- Plugins: a plugin's saved files live in Mods/.reskate_plugin_data, which no merge deletes
- Throwdowns: fixes the docs review found in the kit and its services

- Plugins: Road Rash ships inside its item pack, as Board Break does in its deck pack
- Mods: variants, one of several takes on the same game data; Board Break's decks leave the SDK
- Launcher: no official mod is known by name until ReSkate's list is read
- Trainer 0.8.3 on ReSkate 2.1.1
- Throwdowns: the throwdown kit, so a mode is a plugin and the SDK knows no particular mode
- Merge: a plugin mod's resident assets stay when a map replaces their bundle, and the merge never writes into a mod's own folder
- Merge ReSkate v2.1.1 into the trainer
- Trainer 0.8.2: Underflip speed, Underflip part only, a speed for each underflip
