A city boulevard that runs straight down a hill, one terrace at a time. Every terrace ends in a stair set, and every set is one stair bigger than the last: a 2 stair, a 3 stair, a 4 stair ... all the way to a 50 stair. How far down can you get?
The sets
- 49 stair sets: every one from 2 to 50. Every step is 15 cm by 36 cm, a gentle plaza stair, so a 10 stair drops 1.5 m, the 40 drops 6 m and the 50 drops 7.5 m over almost 18 m of stairs.
- 9 m wide, with a handrail down the middle of every set and a big dark-concrete hubba down each side: 0.7 m wide, elbow height (1.1 m) above the stairs, with a long flat top on the deck and wax marks worn along it. The handrails start right at the lip at about 0.9 m, bend down into end posts, stand on base-plated posts, and have the paint worn to bare steel along the top.
- Room to set up: a flat runout after every set, then a run-up street and a flat takeoff deck before the next one. From the 10 stair on, the run-up streets slope gently downhill, never more than 4%.
- Every set has its number painted on the takeoff deck, on a street sign hung over the top of it, and on the walls at its foot.
The street
- Granite-slab plazas, worn concrete stairs and board-formed concrete walls, with photo-scanned textures throughout.
- Raised sidewalks with grindable kerbs, painted road lines, drains and manholes along the run-up streets; granite planters with steel-edged ledges beside every set; leafy street trees, bollards, bike racks, wooden benches, granite bench ledges and bins.
- Something to skate between every pair of sets: manual pads, flat bars, a pad-to-bar, curbs, granite benches with backs, planters, picnic tables and wooden benches, halfway between one set's foot and the next set's deck, so nothing sits where you land off the stairs, the rail or the hubbas.
- Every set's sign hangs from a steel arm out of the building at the top of its stairs, along with the odd NO SKATEBOARDING sign.
- Old brick buildings at the top of the hill, offices in the middle, glass towers at the bottom. Street lamps light up after dark.
- At the bottom: a plaza with a fast-travel stop to take you back up.
Getting back to the top
- Fast travel: stops at the Top, every fifth set (5, 10, 15 ... 50), and the bottom plaza (listed as Teleporter). Every stop faces down the hill.
- ReSkate trainer: the map ships trainer spots. Spot 1 is the top, and each set's run-up has its own spot, so you can retry any set straight away. The optional Big Drops preset lets you ride away from harder landings: try it if the biggest sets bail you on clean landings.
You spawn at the top of the hill, facing the 2 stair.
