Fossil Field: Ape Escape Skatepark
Fossil Field from Ape Escape, adapted into a skatepark for ReSkate. Ride among the low-poly cliffs, palms and central platforms, with new routes and obstacles built into the landscape.
Park features
- A giant drop-in from the high cliff with a continuous, straight riding surface.
- A 34 m opposing quarter pipe to carry the speed from the drop-in into a big return line.
- A starting point on the upper blue ramp, facing down the drop-in.
- Ape Escape textures on all 35 added park objects, including ramps, props and rails.
- Four wide access ramps with curved transitions and entrances matched to the terrain.
- A three-roller pump line.
- A funbox with smooth banks on all four sides.
- A small halfpipe with coping, open center approaches and banked backs.
- Two low ledges, a flatbar and a curved rail.
- Corrected map orientation, consistent proportions and solid cylindrical tree trunks.
Installation
Install this package through ReSkate's mod workflow, enable it, and restart ReSkate. Select Fossil Field from the custom map list.
For manual installation, extract the ZIP contents directly into their own folder under <ReSkate>/Mods/. The manifest.json, layout.toc, reskate-levels.json and Win32 folder must sit directly inside that mod folder. Do not copy the files over the base game's files.
If you have an earlier local Local-FossilField version, disable or remove that older copy before enabling this package. Keep only one Fossil Field version enabled.
This is a compiled map package. Blender and ReSkate Studio are not required to play. It targets the game build used by ReSkate 2.0.8.
Release status
0.4.4 updates the package image; gameplay is unchanged from 0.4.3. This build has passed native loading and spawn verification, along with geometry, collision and package checks. The drop-in has been rebuilt to address the reported mid-ramp trips, and a loading crash has been repaired. Full-speed riding, individual grind lines and multiplayer still need playtesting.
The halfpipe's raised sides and coping are intentional; enter through its open center or use the outer banks.
Lighting
The map uses fixed noon lighting with local Enlighten lighting data; both loaded successfully in the native game.
This Studio build packages a shared lighting change even when its exclusion options are selected. Lighting on other maps may change while the mod is enabled. Disable this mod and restart ReSkate when returning to other maps if their lighting changes.
