THP8 Special Meter

THP8 Special Meter 1.0.0

Tony Hawk's Project 8's special meter on ReSkate's HUD, top left, as Project 8 draws it. Ported to skate. by X__X.

It is a plugin, so it works on every map: the stock city, custom maps, and THP8 City if you want the full Project 8 feel.

What it does

• Tricks fill it. The meter gains what your line scores, multiplier included, up to 3,000, which is full. A 3,000-point line fills it from empty, the way Project 8 counts it.
• It drains slowly, about 60 points a second, so it falls back between lines. Landing a line keeps what you have.
• A bail empties it, and so does loading a level.
• Full turns special on. A lightning streak runs along the bar, "SPECIAL" appears beside it and fades out over four seconds, and the bar pulses between yellow and red until it runs empty.
• Stance badge. Under the bar, as in Project 8:
  • no badge: riding normal
  • FAKIE: rolling backwards
  • SWITCH: your other foot in front. skate. puts you there a few seconds after you land backwards; from behind it looks like normal riding.
  • NOLLIE: after a trick popped off the nose. skate. has no nollie stance, so the pop decides it.

The bar, its mask, sheen and lightning, the SPECIAL lettering (Project 8's own font) and the badges are Project 8's HUD art, placed where Project 8's HUD scripts put them, with its timings for the fade, the pulse and the lightning.

Settings

Open the ReSkate menu (Insert) and go to PLUGINS, THP8 Special Meter:

• show the meter
• FAKIE and NOLLIE badge
• SWITCH badge (on by default)
• fill speed (1x is Project 8's)
• drain (60 points a second is Project 8's)

Console: thp8meter on, off, full, empty, status, stance, test, and debug on or debug off to write what the meter sees to ReSkate.log.

Needs

ReSkate with plugin support. Nothing else.
